Environmental Policy
Committed to Sustainable Practices
At Puretree Timber, we are deeply committed to environmental responsibility across all aspects of our business and operations. As a company that has been trading in timber since 1868, we understand the vital importance of sourcing from fully sustainable forests to ensure the delivery of more carbon-neutral products - today and for generations to come.
Puretree Timber Ltd is proud to be certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®). This certification guarantees that the certified timber we supply is sourced from responsibly managed forests, supporting global efforts to promote sustainable forestry practices.
Where FSC-certified timber is not available, we prioritise sourcing timber from forests that are in the process of achieving certification but have not yet completed the certification standard. Supporting these efforts aligns with our commitment to encouraging sustainable forest management practices globally.
If neither FSC-certified timber nor timber from forests in the certification process is available, we will only use timber that, at a minimum, complies with applicable timber regulations:

UK Timber Regulation (UKTR)
For timber placed on the UK market, we comply with the UKTR, which ensures legality and traceability within the UK.

EU Timber Regulation (EUTR)
For timber products traded within the EU, we ensure compliance with the EUTR, which combats illegal logging and promotes responsible sourcing.

EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
Despite enforcement starting in December 2025, we've implemented supply chain processes to meet EUDR's deforestation-free and responsible sourcing standards.
Our Proactive Approach
In addition to sustainable sourcing, we actively work to reduce our environmental footprint. One of our key initiatives is the on-site recycling of all sawdust and shavings through our woodchip burner, which heats our manufacturing facilities. This system significantly reduces our reliance on fossil fuels and minimises waste.
Puretree Timber Ltd is dedicated to being a responsible steward of the environment, ensuring our business operations promote sustainability and protect natural resources for future generations.
