Softwood Offcuts

Softwoods are well known for their versatility and aesthetic appearance which means they are well suited for a broad range of internal and external applications. These include but are not limited to furniture making, flooring, external joinery and cabinetry.

Softwood species grow at quicker rates than hardwoods which affect their structure making them often more lightweight, less dense and easier to work with. In addition, this faster growth rate means it takes less time for this timber to be dried, which lowers the overall cost of the wood. This means it is a more popular choice, with softwood accounting for approximately 80% of the timber used around the world.

Common softwoods include Cedar, Fir, Pine and Redwood.
